About the Author

Jaco J. Hammanis Associate Professor of Religion, Psychology and Culture and the Director of the Program in Theology and Practice at the Divinity School at Vanderbilt University. A native of South Africa, he completed his academic studies and clinical training at Stellenbosch University (South Africa), Princeton Theological Seminary, and at the Blanton-Peale Graduate Institute (New York City). He is an ordained minister in the Reformed Church in America.
